david_lapan_large David A. Lapan is on the Board of Directors for United Heroes League.

David served more than 30 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring in 2015 as a colonel.  Dave is a 1978 graduate of Southwick (MA) HS, where he played three varsity sports (as well as lake/pond and street hockey). He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1980 and received his commission in 1983. During his career, spanning active duty and Reserve service, he worked as an air traffic controller and Public Affairs Officer.  Among his career highlights are serving as deputy assistant secretary of defense for media operations, special assistant for Public Affairs to the 18th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Public Affairs advisor to the commander, ISAF and U.S. Forces – Afghanistan. Dave is a graduate of Penn State University (where he spent time working for the Penn State Icers), the Naval War College and Air War College.  Dave is proud to be a member of UHL’s team, whose work combines three of his passions — hockey, service members and their families, and volunteerism.
