Veteran’s Showcase

 

Showcase Background: 

Navy Federal Credit Union (“NFCU”), the Official Military Appreciation Partner of the National Hockey League®, has teamed up with United Heroes League to create a first-of-its-kind hockey tournament solely for military veterans.

The Veteran’s Showcase will take place February 15th through February 18th, 2024, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, home of the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series™. This tournament will take place in conjunction with the Stadium Series event, celebrating our nation’s military and the sport of hockey at the highest level.

Navy Federal Credit Union is looking for four (4) military veteran hockey teams from across the country to participate in this all-expenses-paid invitational tournament. If interested, please complete the below information for a chance to play in our inaugural event. United Heroes League and NFCU will consider a number of factors when selecting each of the four teams, including team background, military service, geography and level of competition. This invitational tournament is open to female, male or coed military veteran hockey teams.

Please note this tournament is not open to any teams with individuals who are currently serving in the military.


Selection Process:

United Heroes League and NFCU will collect submissions from November 1st through November 16th. The last day to submit your team for consideration is 11:59PM EST on November 16th. 

United Heroes League and NFCU will consider a number of factors when selecting each of the four teams, including team background, military service, geography and level of competition.

United Heroes League and NFCU, at their sole discretion, reserve the right to administer all aspects of this tournament, including, but not limited to, the selection of participating teams; the right to change venues and/or the schedule of events; and the ability of a team and/or individual to participate in any event.


Notification

Teams selected to participate in the inaugural Veteran’s Showcase will be notified by December 22nd, 2023. Selected teams consisting of a maximum of fifteen (15) players will receive an all-expense-paid trip to East Rutherford, New Jersey, from February 15 – 18, 2024. The experience will include the following for each selected teams’ players:

  • Airfare, ground transportation upon arrival in East Rutherford for all sponsored events, overnight accommodations, and $50.00 per diem during the event weekend;
  • Welcome reception Friday evening (dinner included);
  • Two (2) guaranteed Veteran’s Showcase games throughout the weekend;
  • Commemorative jersey for each player;
  • Tickets to attend the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series™ (Saturday game on February 17th, 2024)

Mock Weekend Itinerary

Thursday, 2/15 Afternoon / Evening Teams arrive in East Rutherford and check-in at hotel
Friday, 2/16 8:00am – 2:00pm Teams compete in the Navy Federal Credit Union Veteran’s Showcase (minimum of two games)
2:30pm – 5:00pm Teams return to hotel to shower and relax before evening activities
5:30pm – 7:00pm Teams gather in hotel for a pre-reception cocktail hour
7:00pm – 9:00pm Teams enjoy a formal dinner with NHL guest speakers
Saturday, 2/17 9:00am – 2:00pm Teams participate in a VIP NHL experience
2:30pm – 3:30pm Teams return to hotel to eat, change, and relax before evening activities
4:00pm Teams depart for MetLife Stadium for pre-game Fan Fare activities and to enjoy the NFCU NHL Stadium Series game
Sunday, 2/18 Morning / Afternoon Teams check-out of hotel and depart from East Rutherford

Rules/Legal

All participants agree to conduct themselves to the highest standards of sportsmanship and ethical conduct during the tournament, at sponsored events and throughout the sponsored weekend. This is an official USA Hockey sanctioned tournament and will follow official USA Hockey tournament rules. All participants must register or be registered with USA Hockey prior to submitting their team for consideration. A team shall consist of a maximum of fifteen (15) players who are physically able to play in the tournament and only rostered players will be provided the tournament experience. Any unused roster spots cannot be filled with non-playing individuals. All players must be eighteen (18) years or older to participate. All participants consent to allow USA Hockey and NFCU, at their sole discretion, to use any images associated with this event in any form or type of media and other materials without further compensation. If your team is selected to participate in the tournament, each participant agrees and will be required to sign a Waiver and Release of Liability, and a Photo/Video Image Release for USA Hockey and NFCU prior to the tournament weekend for eligibility.
